We love the fact that if you provide cover, food and a water source for the birds; they will move right in and enliven your landscape with sound and motion. We spend a fair amount of time watching the adult birds scrambling to feed the hungry babies in the nearby nests at this time of year. Almost every mature tree around our house has a nest in it of some kind! Our feathered guests include robins, mourning doves, hummingbirds, red-winged blackbirds, swallows, purple martins, blue jays, cardinals, american kestrels, chicadees, various sparrows, goldfinch, woodpeckers, killdeer, kingfishers and more….All that due to a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees, some native shrubs and perennials amongst the ornamentals, a trickle of water, a bit of grass, and organic garden practices. Not too hard to do, and so much enjoyment and entertainment to be had!
